i do NOT cry in theatres normally and this wrecked me completely. it's not framed as a "sides" movie, it's framed as ordinary people losing everything, and that's exactly what makes it land so hard. karan deol actually surprised me, wasn't expecting that level of performance from him honestly. tissues mandatory

performances are genuinely strong, no complaints there, shabana azmi and ali fazal especially stood out. but some scenes visually felt like a stretched out tv serial rather than an actual big screen partition epic, which is disappointing given the subject deserved way more scale. also sags a bit after interval. decent movie, just not the grand experience i hoped for
