not gonna lie i went in with sunny's whole recent interview controversy still fresh in my head and it was hard to separate that from watching the film initially. but credit where due, the movie itself is more balanced than i expected, doesn't villainize anyone, just shows regular people caught in the middle of history. good film, messy promo cycle around it though

performances are genuinely strong, no complaints there, shabana azmi and ali fazal especially stood out. but some scenes visually felt like a stretched out tv serial rather than an actual big screen partition epic, which is disappointing given the subject deserved way more scale. also sags a bit after interval. decent movie, just not the grand experience i hoped for
